Christa
Metzger, Ph.D. joined the ELPS
department in 1995 where she has taught a number of the program’s
courses in educational leadership including school finance, leadership,
human resources administration, and ethics for educational leaders.
Dr. Metzger has also held part-time instructor positions at CSU
Los Angeles, CSU Domingez Hills, and Arizona State University.
Dr.
Metzger has a Ph.D. in educational administration from Arizona
State University and was a teacher and school administrator for
more than two decades in Germany, Arizona and California. She
served as a school district superintendent for 10 years before
coming to CSUN to begin her career as a university professor.
Dr.
Metzger has served on many state and regional boards and held
leadership positions in professional organizations, including
Phi Delta Kappa and the National Association of Elementary School
Principals. In 1990 Dr. Metzger was awarded “All Arizona
Superintendent of the Year Award” by the Arizona School
Administrator’s Association.
Dr.
Metzger has conducted research and published numerous articles
related to the field of educational administration. Her special
research interest is in helping school leaders keep a balance
between their personal and professional lives. An active member
of the ELPS faculty, her contributions include writing the standards
for NCATE and CCTC, earning the department an outstanding commendation
from the accreditation team.
