Deborah
Leidner, Ed.D. joined CSUN’s
ELPS department after an accomplished career in the Los Angeles
Unified School District where she served in administrative positions
at the middle and high school levels.
Dr.
Leidner earned her B.A. in political science and teaching credential
at CSUN, going on to earn her M.A. in educational administration
from California Lutheran University. Dr. Leidner holds a doctorate
in educational administration from Brigham Young University with
a specialization in organizational development and served as a
visiting faculty member at BYU for four summers. After a six-year
assignment as a cluster administrator for the Birmingham/Cleveland/Reseda
Cluster, a community of 40 K-12 schools, she served four years
as local district superintendent for 70 schools in the North and
West San Fernando Valley.
Dr.
Leidner is the superintendent responsible for the development
of the new high school on the CSUN campus. She envisioned the
use of the school as a professional development center and laboratory
for the establishment of small learning communities and collaborated
with the university to create opportunities for joint university/public
school programs.
