Faculty
Dr.
Richard Castallo, Ed.D. has been
a professor and chair of the ELPS department at CSUN since 2002.
Prior to coming to CSUN, he taught for and chaired the Department
of Educational Administration at the State University of New York
(SUNY) at Cortland for 19 years. Before his career move into higher
education, he served as a public school administrator and teacher.
Dr. Castallo specializes in the areas of organizational development,
leadership, planning, and curriculum and instruction. He is currently
involved in the expansion of the ELPS program into several LAUSD
sub-districts and will be working with school leaders in the implementation
of small learning communities in local secondary schools.
Dr.
Castallo is owner/partner of Castallo and Silky Education Consultants,
which provides consultant services to hundreds of school districts
throughout the country.
In
addition to several published articles, Dr. Castallo has authored
books focusing on school personnel management, improving student
achievement and school board-superintendent relations.
Dr.
Castallo holds a doctorate in educational administration from
Syracuse University and a B.A. in psychology from the SUNY at
Brockport.
