Susan
Auerbach, Ph.D. received her doctorate
in the sociology of education and education policy from UCLA's
Division of Urban Schooling. As an educational researcher at UCLA
and USC, she has been involved in a number of projects investigating
college access, parent involvement, the preparation of teachers
for urban schools, and the pathways of students of color through
high school and beyond. After serving as an assistant professor
for Whittier College’s master’s program in education,
she joined the ELPS faculty at CSUN in 2003 where she currently
teaches classes in research methods, fieldwork, school-community
relations, and educational foundations.
Dr.
Auerbach conducts continuing research focusing on school leadership
and family/community engagement. She has published several books
and journals; her work has appeared in the Teachers College Record
and the Harvard Educational Review.
