Joannie Basillo-Auguayo, M.S.;FCDS

Biography

Ms. Busillo-Aguayo is an early childhood and family development educator specializing in early intervention services for infants and toddlers with special needs and their family. In 1993, she joined The Language, Speech and Hearing Center’s Early Intervention Program located within the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences at California State University, Northridge. In 1996, she was appointed as the Early Start Programs Assistant Coordinator.

Ms. Busillo-Aguayo provides private and institution consultation, and individualized play-based intervention and family counseling. She regularly conducts workshops and seminars for professionals, students and parents on the use of developmental relationship-based therapeutic approaches with young children who have regulatory, social-emotional and communication challenges.

As the parent of a young man with autism, she brings a unique perspective to her work with the children and families she serves. Ms. Busillo-Aguayo is an avid reader and researcher on topics related to young children with autism and is currently working on her doctorate degree in Organization Leadership at Pepperdine University.
