Activity Description
Using information adapted from relationship-based approaches, such as floortime, participants will learn specific strategies that will enhance their skills and effectiveness in working with children who have regulatory, social-relatedness, and communication challenges. Coursework includes multimedia lecture, client video segments, and hands-on activities.
Learning Outcomes
The purpose of this course is to enhance your ability to engage and relate to children in a responsive, supportive manner. Using information adapted from relationship based approaches such as floor time, you will learn specific strategies that will enhance your skills and effectiveness in working with children who have regulatory, social-relatedness and communication challenges.
Through a combination of learning and practical application exercises at the end of this course you will be able to:
- Identity’s a child’s sensory and regular preferences and sensitiveness and be able to modify and adapt interactions and the environment to match the child’s needs.
- Identify a child’s functional communication, social-emotional and intellectual capacities and be able to plan effective interventions that support and enhance optimal functional development.
- Use developmentally appropriate relationship based strategies to engage a child in purposeful and meaningful interactions within the context of daily routines and activities.
Agenda
This course has 6 modules, all containing multimedia presentations with activities and a module assessment. All assessments must be passed at the 80% criterion level.

- Module 3: Child’s Developmental Profile and Assessment using the Inventory of Core Developmental Milestones
