Based on information you provide on the FAFSA, graduate students may qualify for Subsidized or Unsubsidized Stafford loans.

Eligibility:

  • You must be admitted into a degree program by California State University, Northridge’s Admissions and Records (A&R)
  • Complete the "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA).
  • You must maintain at least half-time enrollment to remain eligible for loan(s). Graduate half-time status is 4 units.

    Steps to Apply:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which can be obtained from the Web. (Our Federal School Code is 001153).
  • The Financial Aid department will receive your FAFSA information from the federal government electronically. Please note: you may be asked to submit additional information. If you are, please respond to the request for additional information as soon as possible. You will submit requested documents to:

    Financial Aid & Scholarship Department
    California State University, Northridge

  • Once all required documentation is in, you will be sent an Award Notice letter via your assigned CSUN email address stating what types of Financial Aid you are eligible for. You must then electronically submit the Acceptance of Financial Aid form to accept the aid.

    Disbursement of Aid:

  • Receipt of Financial Aid does not relieve you of the responsibility to pay your tuition fees each term. Enrollment must be processed before aid can be released.
  • Enrollment will be verified by Financial Aid prior to any aid disbursement.
  • University Cash Services disburses all Financial Aid. When funds are received on your account, any balance owed is paid first, and then any remaining balance will be mailed in the form of a check to the address that you have provided to the University.

If you have questions regarding your registration, your payment, or your account balance please contact our Client Services department at (818) 677-2504. You may also review your account status on the CSUN Web Portal. Remember: Start the Financial Aid process as soon as possible.
