Mandatory Computer Specifications

To participate in the online courses you will need a computer with the following specifications:

Minimum Hardware Requirements

  • Minimum Pentium IV - 2.0 GHz
  • Minimum 1 GB RAM for Windows XP
  • Minimum 2 GB RAM for Windows Vista
  • 128 MB of graphics memory for Vista Home Premium/Business/Ultimate
  • 16-bit sound card with good quality speakers
  • DVD-ROM drive with 4x minimum (16x recommended)
  • Document Scanner (with compatible software able to save to PDF, GIF, or JPEG format)
  • Headphones with a built in microphone
  • Accessible USB ports to plug in USB flash drives, webcams, microphones, etc.
  • USB or Firewire Web Camera (Logitech recommended)

 

Internet Service Provider Requirements
  • Internet access from a reliable ISP with live technical support and a high-speed connection, such as DSL or Cable
  • A reliable personal e-mail account

Software Requirements

  1. Microsoft Windows XP or Vista operating system
  2. Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007
  3. Reliable and current antivirus protection (e.g. Norton Antivirus, McAffee)

Free Software

Other Requirements

  • Fax machine (must be able to send faxes—does not have to be a dedicated fax number)
